Nickel Steamroller 2.0 Released!

nickelsteamrollerlogoBack in December, we featured our Q & A with Nickel Steamroller in anticipation for the new version of their site.  If you haven’t already heard, Nickel Steamroller released version 2.0 a couple of weeks ago which includes a great amount of analytics for p2p lending that regular Nickel Steamroller users have been accustomed too.  One big change you will notice is the addition of Prosper analytics.  For those of you who are interested in automated investing, you will need to sit tight for a little longer. I know they are working hard on it and you can be sure it will be a polished product like the rest of the site.  Below I will try to quickly outline a few of the many features in version 2.0, but you really just need to check it out for yourself.

Nickel Steamroller Homepage

The front page provides some high level metrics when it comes to Lending Club and Prosper.  This includes performance, loan availability and interest rates. To go along with it, they also included key economic indicators.

Portfolio Analyzer

I have to admit this is my first time uploading my portfolio to any tool and I’m very impressed with what they have done.  I recommend people who were in the same boat to give this feature a try.  By default, the analysis provides a great breakdown of your account including:

  • All Matching loans
  • Grade
  • Purpose
  • Issue Date
  • FICO Range
  • Annual Income
  • Inquiries Last 6 Months

The sub filtering feature is pretty neat as you can highlight rows with a minimum ROI or loan count.  I could see this being valuable for people with many more notes than me to compare how their ROI differs based on the factors above.  The portfolio analyzer feature is also available for Prosper users.

Backtesting Filters

I’m not going to spend too much time on this, although it is likely the most used feature on Nickel Steamroller.  They give you every filter imaginable and you can see how you would have fared in the past based on the filters selected.  I do like the ability to breakdown the filters depending on what you are looking for.  For instance, breaking down by state along with your custom filters yields some interesting results.

Like P2P Lending Charts?

Good! Because tons of them can be found in their canned charts section here: http://www.nickelsteamroller.com/#/charts

Active Listings

You can also use filtering to view the active listings on both platforms.   On this page you are able to save your filters and view the estimated ROI on notes.  It also gives you the link to the note in case you want to invest.

It was really nice to see the addition of the FOLIOfn secondary market filtering.  It can be found here.  However, I would like to see the ability to save some filters here and be able to sort each column.

Final thoughts

Michael and Rocco did not disappoint with Nickel Steamroller 2.0. The resulting product is a clean and easy to use interface for both Prosper and Lending Club investors.  You can tell they put a lot of time into making it what it is today and it’s awesome to have people like them in the community who offer analytical tools for free.  I can’t wait to see how they continue to make the site even better.
